Re: Need help on loosening the the rotor nut

Hi,
Just a word of caution, certain manufacturers use a left-hand thread for that. Normally it is not that tight. It might be one of those using a LH threaded nut. Try turning it anti- clockwise. Just don't force with gu lat. And pls use a spanner or socket never a pair of pliers. hope this helps - cheers

Re: Need help on loosening the the rotor nut

Gpac raises a good point on the left hand threaded possibility.

However, Neub dude, its always a good idea to at least tell us what reel you are working on. As Gpac also said, make sure you have the right tools and the correctly sized spanner to fit the nut. Japanese reels will use metric sized tools.

If the nut is corroded or there seems to be rust on the threads, you might try some penetrating oil or WD-40 or Reel-X on the threads. Apply the lubricant liberally to the threads above the nut and allow it to soak in for a few minutes. Also make sure that there are no other fasteners that might be holding the nut.

Finally, if you can manage it, a quick phone pic of the nut and shaft might also help us to help you.

Regards

Saimee
