Need Help - Accurate 665H

I have decided to maintain my Accurate 665H and downloaded the step by step dismantling and maintenance of the reel from the Accurate website.

However I unable to separate the spool from the side-plate. In the illustration it was noted that no force is required to separate it.

Any clues how to separate this 2 items?

Thanks

Les

Take out your drag adjustment knot, there should be a c clip.

Les,

If you have removed the e-clip under the cap of the preset knob and the right sideplate will still not lift off the spool, you may need to push the spool shaft off through the cam bearing.

Whilst the instructions do say that no force should be required, it has been my experience that the tolerances are so tight in the Accurate reels that it may require some gentle force to push the shaft through that bearing. If you don't think you want to try that, best bring the reel to Benji and ask him to show you how to do it. More often than not, this is an indication that you may need a new cam bearing.

Also note that some of the illustrations in the 665 Powerpoint are of an older 665 and for example the drag cover screw setup may not be the same on your reel as that in the pictures. Its all very simple though and should not pose a problem. Remember to check the clip and washer that reside under the right drag plate as well as the right spool bearing. Both are suspect areas for corrosion.

Regards,

Saimee
