My Mood: Rep Power: 6 ![]() ![]() | Looking for an aftermarket handle for the Torsa 20 Hi guys, Looking for an aftermarket handle for the Torsa 20. Preferably offset and longer than the stock handle. Would a jigger 4000/5000 handle fit? Wonder if JIGW and Mr Tani have any suggestions. Many thanks, Mark |

| Moderator | Re: Looking for an aftermarket handle for the Torsa 20 MarkR, The Torsa looks to run the same handle knob as the TN30, but the handle is looks to be a shorter version of the OJ4000.... So, if you have an OJ4000 to run a direct comparison with, take off the handles and see if the OJ's is longer and to see if the holes to fit the main gear shaft are the same. If the holes match and the OJ handle is longer, get an OJ4000/5000 handle and T knob... they will be gold to match anyway. Saimee

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Re: Looking for an aftermarket handle for the Torsa 20 By looking at the shimano reel schematics, Trinidad n OJ will not fit into tosa main gear. Tn n Oj are having rectangular slot n Tora is square. The width of the handle n wall thickness will be the main concern. if the Oj has enough width n thickness is about the same or thicker then it shouldnt be much problem fixing the OJ handle onto the tosa! |

It may be that the AG handles for the AB Magnums could fit as they do modify the main gear shaft to use a square fitting to their handles. Ahhh well unless there is a specific handle, I guess its all "Test and See". Saimee

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Re: Looking for an aftermarket handle for the Torsa 20 MR, change the round rubber knob to AG handle (same as yr OJ 4000P). It look good as I saw Jimi the Fish used T20 during my trip in 3 kings. No pictures with me as I didn't bring my camera. Kingfish fight slightly harder than Samson but it is very difficult to land a 1.3m. Average size about 1.15m. The bracoutta gang is there also, saw my next mate line cutted off by this stupid fish and there goes his sanme 650 jig. Saimee, the modified carbontex for my OJ 5000P works wonder. Thanks man. Tight Lines. |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Re: Looking for an aftermarket handle for the Torsa 20 i have a small local machine shop make these for me. they are made of stainless steel and delron. not fancy, but very tough. in the united states, there is a patent on this design that covers a 10-25 degree offset. to avoid patent issues, the handle on the avet ex 4/0 and 5/0 reels are 9 degrees. my handle is also 9 degrees. a handle assembly is basically an arm on one side, a grip on the other, and a spindle in the middle. what i do is drill out the rivet that holds the spindle and punch it out. i save the arm and throw away the old grip and spindle. then i simply bolt on my custom grip and spindle. in the case of the shimano tld 20/25 single speed and the tld 20/30 two speed reels, the arm is also way too short. this same machine shop also made a new arm longer for me. the demand for this grip has been overwhelming. my local machine shop made the first prototype within hours. i am absolutely certain that any machine shop in your area could do the same. |

Glad you got hooked up some and that the drags worked for you. Did you actually notice a difference in the performance from the stock drags or any of the other OJs that were running stock drags on your trip?. Y'all take care now. Regards, Saimee

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Re: Looking for an aftermarket handle for the Torsa 20 Hi Siamee, Although, I had brought 3 sets (2 spinning and 1 overhead), 99 % of my jigging is based on the OJ 5000P. Drag wise is very smooth and should be better that the original stack in my own opinion. Super easy to jig with HEG technology even with 650 sanme jig as compared to my nightmare at Bintulu using spinning outfit. I used both gimbal and hardness to my advantage so that it will not exert too much stress on me. A big THANKS to my mates as they had to help me to attach onto the rod everytime there is a hookup. I didn't test the drag to the max as I already heard some sound from the line (80 lbs platypus with JB 130 lbs backing) which is almost stress to it's max. Even with this setting, the hapuka cannot do a home run to his hideout during the initial hookup. Good trip with good company (but the travelling hours is just too long; 10 hrs flight + 5 hours drive to port followed by another 10 hours to 3 kings) and see alot of stuffs (AG knot with and without protection, swivel connection, direct solid ring connection, retying after every hookup and blah blah blah....) from all the international anglers. Everything works without any twisting and it is just an angler's preception on which one he is more comfortable with. Some pictures from my mates as I didn,t bring my camera. Tight Lines |

My Mood: Rep Power: 6 ![]() ![]() | Re: Looking for an aftermarket handle for the Torsa 20 Thanks to everyone who has given me ideas on the Torsa handle. Machining a handle to my specs would be quite costly in Singapore. Not sure if many machinists here would undertake a one-off job like this for a reasonable price but it's certainly an option. Thanks |
