    Big thanks to DFM!

Just thought I'd say thanks to my ol buddy DFM for servicing my Saltiga and Torsa. Not only did he go the extra mile by running over to his friend's place in the middle of the night to borrow a wrench for my Torsa, he even took the time to tell me what's starting to show signs of wear in my reels so that I can pre-order the parts!! I usually tear my star drag reels apart myself but I was worried about the waterproof seals in the Saltiga plus the horror stories by Alan Tani about the frame cracking kinda got me worried. Prior to DFM's service/ctex drag upgrade, my Z20 had literally NO drag until the star drag was buttoned down 90% of max. It was either no drag or almost full and even then, the drag pressure was terribly low, probably less than 10lbs!! Now that DFM has done up the reel for me, it has a wide, consistent range of drag pressure

Thanks again Saimee!! You're DA MAN!

    No worries Mike....

I really liked all the seals on the Saltiga and I would certainly consider getting a Z30 for 40lb braid on something like a JM350 or a similar "lighter" rod. With Mikey's reel I had the opportunity to closely inspect the frame and screw holes where Alan has seen the cracking problem. I note that on the Z30, every single sideplate screw had thread locker, so I used thread locker too on reinstallation. I guess that means that we have to be somewhat more carefull on how we torque down on these screws, as I reckon that the metal runs pretty thin on the frame around the holes, especially on the lefthand (of a rt handed reel) side.

Ctex has worked out really well in almost all the applications I have used it except for one troublesome Kaikon 3000....

Finally "Note to Self" must order a Torsa wrench as every other Penn and Shimano Wrench I have does not fit the Torsa handle nut.

    Regards,

    Saimee
