Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Ripple Fisher GT rods Hello, New to the site and looking for a medium heavy GT rod. Had the chance to test a Ripple Fisher GT82 rod. Very easy casting, a joy to cast all day long. Has anyone used their GT rods? I like to know how sturdy these rods are. Thanks ED |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Re: Ripple Fisher GT rods i have used the gt82 to pop for gt, instead i caught a balck tip shark around 20 kg. its a very easy to use rod, especially if you are over 6' tall. another type i have used is the gt78 a shorter and stronger version. very easy control and can cast more than 180gram popper. strong rod if you have the muscle to pull. higher drag 12-15kg recommmended. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Re: Ripple Fisher GT rods Hi, Thanks for the reply. Yes I just ordered the GT79 PF from Angler Hut. I caught a 32kg GT in Oman with the GT82 model. Your right really easy to cast, I was using 170-200g poppers, might have been a bit much. This summer I will be ordering their gt 8 ft model to replace my smith 80/35. Many frenchman use Ripple Fisher, most of them sold their Fisherman and Carpenter rods! I will never sell my carpenter's, but these rods definitely have a place in my rod rack. Thanks again Regards, ED |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Re: Ripple Fisher GT rods Hi, I believe the GT78PF starts at 62000yen. but I ordered a custom model, so I don't know how much it will cost. Their GT sticks run from 60000 yen to 69000 yen, they just raised there prices at the start of 2008. Another company that puts out a quality product is HOT's. Their prices are in the 40-50000 yen price range. I have the Hot's GT79 XH model and the Tide Lez 78MH Tuna/GT model. Excellent rods, very light and can take abuse! Landed a 27 kg GT and 43 kg YTF with the 78MH model. Their is a rumor that a 52 kg GT was landed on the same rod? I think the only way they could of landed such a monster is they were fishing in very deep water.
