Popping rod to match Catalina 4500H?

Hi,

Have recently acquired a Daiwa Catalina 4500H and would like to seek advice from veterans here on what popping rod to recommended to pair with this reel for my virgin trip to burma banks in Dec 2007?

A brother of mine recommended to get the shimano caranx kaibutsu pencil instrument, Shimano-Scorpion Ocea GT(1st generation) or the Hots Gipang 75XXH. Any other models i can consider?

Bro all the rods u've listed are IMHO too heavily rated for the 4500H. U might want to look at slightly lighter PE2-4 class rods for your new reel. I guess the Kaibutsu Light Pleasure would be fitting. Alternatively there are various other brands on the market like Smith, Daiwa, Evergreen, CB One, Zenith and Ripple Fisher to name a few. Take a walk along Beach Rd and have a look...

shimano caranx kaibutsu pencil instrument will be a good match with the Daiwa catalina and price wise is quite cheap. Have tried the casting afew rounds but the handle is abit to long for some...

Alamak... you better tell ppl you might get "itchy backside" and buy a DF... otherwise when ppl find out who is your "brother"... they might say that guy is an idiot for recommmending the Gipang and Caranx PI

hahaha..ok ok..the reason my bro is recommending the Gipang and Caranx PI is that i might be getting the Dogfight next year. So instead of getting a lighter rated rod...might as well get a heavier rated rod which can be used on both the catalina 4500h and the Dogfight. Sorry for the confusion caused.

Nocturnal - i thought so the caranx PI would be a good match to my catalina and definitely a reasonable price for a caranx. Thanks alot.
