My Mood: Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Re: Maldives gear No guru here still newbie. I used the MIC Ryobi Safari at Maldives - as good as the MIJ reel IMHO. But it is actually a korean reel modelled internally much after the old Penn SS series but with infinite anti reverse. Robust and very affordable. Try 2000Tackle at Pasir Ris Pond. For PE6 or above setup I think for reel, you may want to try out the new Shimano Saragosa Series size 14000 or 18000. As for rod I would still recommend a HOTS Gipang 79XH. I am also looking out for a not so expensive popping setup as there would be little use for the set, as there are not so much grounds for me to do popping. You can also try to use a Shino or Lemax popping rod, nothing wrong with them except it is more heavier, that is IMHO. Shimano Kaibutsu could be another option as well. ![]()
