Some floats and some sinks. Depends on what you're targeting

Yes , if you reel fast enough with rod tip high .

Why would you want a sinking stickbait to skip on the surface? Its supposed to dart erratically either submerged or on the surface.

Mike ,

Everybody is different when come to fishing technique , the most important thing is they draw strike and subsequently get a solid hook-up and proceed in fighting the fish for eventual CnR .

Agreed! But in this case we're not debating about what works and what doesn't... Juan probably hasn't used a stickbait before and is trying to figure out whether a floating or sinking model will work better for him.

Re: Do Stickbaits sink or floats?

Actually that is also my question (I asked in another forum I think. Am Konaman) : I have never used a stickbait except for what I think is one -an old Saurus 48gm lure. No bib, and is very castable. From the pics of what they term stickbaits, I think it is such a lure. Did I get it right?

I have caught a few GTs with it, but always under the surface which to me, diminishes what I find thrilling about catching a GT on topwater baits. FWIW, I think it is even more effective than a popper, but I do not use it.

Have a fantastic new year fellas!
cheers, zeck

Zeck the next time you swing by my place, remind me to show you Carpenter's "Topwater Luring Bible" You will see how to work "stickbaits" and how it actually behaves in the water. That Ulua of your's will be magical for working "stickbaits"

Zeck ,

Wahoo stickbait darts around at 10 cm below the surface and if GT strike it , you will still see the spray and at times part of the GT body comes out from the water . Stickbait is not " swimmer " , it's still qualified as topwater lures .

In choppy sea , chuggers tend to cartwheel and the choise is only pencil
( then ) and ( now ) stickbait .

Happy New Year 2007 guys !

Sportfisherman .
