Can PE Jigging Lines Be Used For Popping?

Hi Folks,

I'm pretty new to popping.

Can I check if it's possible to use PE jigging lines (eg. YGK Jigman series) for popping as well? Are these lines more prone to breakage/slippage compared to those popping PE lines (eg. Varivas GT Avani)?

Reason for asking so is because I find the price difference for both very stark. Any advise is much appreciated.

You don't even need to use PE lines for popping. Braids in general will work fine but personally I don't like to use anything less than 80lbs because any casting errors like guide wraps, wind knots will weaken lighter braids very much. Lost more lures due to these casting problems than to fish.

Can be used but using marked braid is an unnecessary expense. Even heard of fish (e.g. mackerel) getting excited and biting braid off at the colour change.

I'd say braid is necessary otherwise line stretch will just waste energy instead of transmitting it to the lure to create the splash/pop. Varivas is used by alot of hardcore popping enthusiasts, but for a better value have a look at the Jerry Brown braid range.
