    Cool

    Physlo

Better buy a used rod from reputable brand rather than buying new rod from brands that does not know what popping rod is all about . Just choose wisely
and check for damages of the blank + components .

    Jon,

Will do, seems that nowadays there are many 2nd hand popping rods for sale.
    Thanks.

$300 is a tight budget to work with leh bro... one of the more affordable pop sticks available here would be Smith's 80P/35 and the Gipang. Oh yeah, I spotted the older gen OCEA GT rods (with graphite reelseat) @ Sea Tackle and they're all less than $600. Really worth taking a look

I don't know about the GIPANG but SMITH WRC80P/35 is still a favourite by many GT anglers . I don't care much for OCEA GT rods , old or new model .

    PhySlo ,

It is rated PE6-8 , the older line rating version and I wud not recommend this rating to be taken literally , meaning during the days when Smith WRC80P/35 was introduced , PE 6 = 60 lbs and PE 8 = 80 lbs in breaking strains , nowaday with say , Varivas Avani GT , PE6 = 80 lbs and PE 8 = 100 lbs , a recipe to break the rod .

Bro, that rod can use for fishing mama tomans. Can flip a live keli and float at ease. I'm confident can reach the other side of the river bank but don't think it can withstand the runs by a GT.

I think better get a proper popping rod to match your Saldua Expedisi...hehehe.
