ATC 8'8" popping rod.....

Hi guys,

I recently took a popping rod, ATC 8'8" rated for PE8. I've tried to cast in Nusa Dua beach, Bali.... a couple days ago. No fish, of course.... just for casting practice. The rod is okay-lah, a little bit stiff but since I love big lures/stickbait....it's quite okay.
The only one that I hate is the butt ! It's too short I reckon. Maybe extend the butt for 2-3 inches would be just perfect... !

So, I need your help and recommendation guys...

1. How to remove the gimbal from the butt ?

2. Any idea what kind of material to add to the butt ? And how to do that ? Is it with special glue ?

Thank's in advance....

rgds,
Lod.

dude do you know a crazy dude by the name of Aaron Nasatir in Bali Ask him about ATC and he'll tell you to dump that rod into the sea. He had an ATC and was pretty happy with it... until the rod exploded into graphite chopsticks @ home

Mike,

Alamak...for a budget rod like the ATC, we shouldn't complain lah. Somehow or rather, they feels like the Penn...

Maybe your buddy Aaron hook on to a monster size GT...

Cheers!

Ha...ha...hah, like physlo says.....it's only a budget rod, what can I say ?

Btw, is he Aaron 'the jigger' from Ubud ? Hmmm, wonder how big the fish was.....
FYI, if you read this http://www.fishingouting.com/index.p...iewtopic&t=362, there is my buddy Hendra who caught GT exceeding 50KG mark, with...........here it is Ladies and Gentlement, ATC Rod !

Well, I'm not an ATC sales person..... and I already have Smith and Carpenter popping rods. This time I'd like to play with a longer (8'8") popping rod, so an ATC budget popping rod will be fine for me at this moment....

Btw, any idea how to extend the butt ?

rgds,
Lod.

But on second thought, I decided not to change anything to my rod. It's just too complicated to me....

What I do now is just to change my right hand position (I'm right-handed) when casting. From right in the stem to a little bit above the stem, so I have a better grip now without changing anything...... ! Hmmm,..... why don't I think it at the first place ?
