    Hi MarkR,

Thanks for sharing. It looks interesting and complicated

    What is the breaking strength?

Usually I am using uni knot for anything I can get away with

    Cheers,
    Edy

    Hi Edy,

Happy to share some of the stuff I come across. About the knot...I don't use this knot any longer coz I think it can slip easily. The AG guys use some kind of protective tubing to give the knot a better grip on the swivel.

    cheers

    Hi Eeyore,

Yes, I think the knot does work with thick leaders over 100lb. The AG/Jigging Master guys use this knot but add a protective sleeve which sheaths the leader at the point where the leader goes round swivel eye.

    Cheers

Having confidence in a knot to use is one thing, having to go the extra step of putting a sheath to prevent it from slipping shows that there is a lack of confidence in the knot. So it makes one wonder why one would still continue using it? There are other pretty tried & trusted and easier to tie knots to use, like the Trilene, reverse Trilene, improved clinch or even the ever reliable Uni-knot. So I can't help but wonder why. Perhaps it's another case of the "not-invented-here" syndrome? Or perhaps a marketing gimmick to sell gullible anglers another accessory .......

As far as knots are concerned, imho, for leaders 150lbs and up, crimping with the proper size aluminium sleeve with the correct crimping too is the way to go.

I guess you have a point Mak...perhaps some groups of jiggers just try too hard to do it differently in order to create their own "philosphy" & "school of thought"...I do agree that in the process these guys may end up rejecting some tried, tested and proven methods

Eeyore, think there is a variation to the TN knot that could constitute an improvement. Seen some guys start off with a palomar knot followed by the usual series of alternating half hitches instead- no requirement for protective tubing.

I think this type of knot resembles weaving or pleating......method. Might be with withstand those toothy fishes.

Can i wrap a pieces of shrink tube in to enhance the toughness? Will it affect the bite rate?

Wee, I'll show you another version of the knot shown above. I use the half hitch to "protect" the leader more than anything else. For lighter applications use something simple that you know how to tie will do.
