Reel Size and Rod PE Goes Together?

Just a newbie question here... Is it important to match a reel size to the PE of the rod we planning to use? For example, if we match a Caldia Kix 3500 to a PE 8 jigging rod, would that be too drastic?

Or is it a case of preference and adaptability?

Am pondering of this question because i currently have a PE 8 jigging rod and a 3500 Caldia Kix... I am of course, trying to avoid buying a new reel for the rod!

    I also a newbie..*smile*

wat line do u hv on Daiwa Caldia Kix 3500 ?

correct me if i'm wrong..I tot a PE 2-4 jigging rod would be more than enough. the max drag for the reel is 8kg.

*** anything over 30lbs braid line on the spool. would greatly reduce ur line cap in the first place.

Depends on what you intend to do with the reel buddy. Can consider the Shimano Triton Game 50lb (with guides)/Jig Wrex B526 or Blue Rose B60MD

actually if you do more bottom fishing than jigging can seriously consider the triton... its a really strong bottom fishing stick but not as heavy as those xxh seeker/calstar custom pieces.
