Qstn : UV light for lumo jigs?

Hi folks,
I heard that there are special light for illuminating the luminous jigs for night jigging?

Not that I think that luminous jigs will increase the strike rate, but that there are certain species more prone to strike a lumo jig..

Some folks tell me its a UV light that does the trick, it actually uses less time to activate the lumo.

Any recommendation or pictures of such a light ?

BTW, how do we get the fullest lumo(intensity) and does the duration of the torchlight to shine on it matters?

Panasonic make a proper hi intensity flash light like a camera flash. This is far more illumination than any UV or natural sunlight can offer.

Yes, I did that before. I used UV light, which is normally use for checking the counterfeit bill. It's small enough to carry yet not too costy. And it done the job very well, better than normal torch light.

Read somewhere that the Photoluminiscent paint on the lumo jigs are excited by the lower wavelength, at the Ultra Violet range of white light... Therefore.. wouldnt that mean that UV torchlight will be a better source to activate the Lumo jigs?

Right now, the question is: which light, ie, UV or high intensity light will light out the lumo and also make it last longer?

Not too sure about the technical part of it, but i am using a UV torch i bought from this guy called CatEye in the fishingkaki forum. The torch does its job well; really brights up the lumos and makes it last longer.

Too bad I don't have his contact. Go check out the website if you interested.

yup.. i know who Cateye is..
the situation that I am in... apparently all types of light will light up those jigs...

the technical side of things is that....the photoluminous subtance is excited by the lower end UV spectrum of white light..

My question is whether, UV light or just a very bright torchlight, which one will make the jig last longer...

It depends on the lumo layer apply and quality of the powder, 2me, brighter light last longer but........too bright always catch no fish unless u targetting Dogtooth Tuna or big eye jack species.
