    Hi Pandim
We are 3 or 4 travelleing together and will stay at the wild orchid resort. I dont know the name of the charter yet. The trip is a packed deal so will have to ask travel agency about the charter name.

Re: need advice on jigging outfit

    Hi Muremic,

If you are a Tackle Ho it might be of interest to acquire a Synit Venom or Synit Deep Shot- just a suggestion!

These jigging blanks are built on a high % carbon formulation with double-bias off-axis cross carbon which gives the blanks a "glassy" feel and makes them super strong.

From the market research that has been done, I understand that hardly any JDM blanks have this material in them although one or two highly popular JDM brands have just started making use of this material in their blank designs to give more flex, more parabolic action and much more strength for higher drag settings. It seems as well that trend these days is to move towards more forgiving and progressive taper blanks, the new material is ideal for such blanks.

If you can get access to Synit blanks or rods go give them a pull to see what sort of action they impart.

My take on JDM brands is that different JDM rod companies/brands specialize in a particular carbon cloth formulation which gives their entire rod range a characteristic signature action. Very rarely do the manufacturers deviate greatly from this one formula. Thus, the end product is almost always a unique bend, taper, action from one manufacturer.

SMITHs have a unique more forgiving bend (maybe good for Tuna?!?) while I personally believe the Ripples are faster. Have a look at the Patriots- the outerwraps of Kevlar also impart a unique signature action and feel to the blanks.

    cheers
