Re: genesis rods

Excellent value for money and faultless aftersales service if you get it from the right shop

Re: genesis rods

Hi there,

The Amberjack special series is a great rod and value for money.

The rod can handle size J24 weight for bottom fishing and as for jigging wise, I feel 300gm jigs are most effective to load the rod.

Had one for Samson fishing in early Jan 07, performance was flawless and have a easy time to land the hippos.

I feel its a great rod for every jigging trip.

Cheers
Jason

Dun think i will need to ask edy.
These 2 replies have stamped Genesis's quality.

1 more question.
How about using genesis blank and custom by AO?
Are the blanks expensive?

Re: genesis rods

Hi bro,

I think th price is ard $100 plus not exceeding $200 for the blank.
AO 's Benji is great builder and has very good knowledge on that. But just that his business is so good that U have to wait for almost 3months from now.

There are also many great builders around.Like Freddie Lai, GalantD, and Christ Lok from PA. These are just some of the rod builders only.

Each has its own design and concept.

To customise own rod is always great as the rod will suit your usage and taste.

A customised rod will cost ard $400plus depending on your budget and accessories.

Cheers
Jason

Re: genesis rods

Hi Bro,

I think there are popping rods from Genesis. Maybe wrong here.

As for popping rods, U can refer to this link Help needed for Carpenter, Smith and Zenaq popping rods

U can also PM stickbom as he is more of a popping guru.

Me just a jigging fanatic. Not much of a popping guy.

Dude,

I have had quite a few rods built by Benji from AO and I have only praise and no complaints. Their backup service is probably the best in Spore.

I have had roller rod and Sic rods both OH and Spinning, built by Benji but I never asked him to do a breakdown of the costings for my rods, but I imagine that labour would be between $100-200 depending on the complexity of the build.

For a basic rod, I feel that up to S$150 is a fair charge. If you ask for customised butt wraps and more custom threadwork, then I am sure that the cost would escalate as these customs works take a lot of time to do properly.

I have only seen first hand Mike Moks (right spelling?) work from Sabre and his work is also very good, but his wraps are different in style. I can recognise Bens wraps and Mikes and tell them apart.

Regardless of who builds your rods, just make sure you customise the measurements, fit, design and components exactly the way you want.... that's the beauty of customs rods. In fact, aside from a single Jigwrex S508, I don't think I have any factory rods anymore......

Regards,

Saimee

Now all I need to do is find some time to use the damned rods....

S.
