Hi Narc, I've been fishing a lot from shore these days so can't help but yak a little more about surf related topics

Well, most sting ray hunters are using meaty surf sticks that's heavy and big in blank diameter. It would be wonderful if they could make a slim & lightweight surf rod that can be used for dragging big rays like those MarkR caught in Thailand.

Yeah mikey...it is very fierce...amazingly light...definitely the lightest jig rod I own for similar line class...I have a 4'8" custom JM 400g devoid of metal bling and this is definitely heavier than the longer 5'2" Venom 400G in the pics...proudly made in New Zealand too...some new technology too I understand...first time a particular sort of carbon material has been successfully integrated into rod blanks...gotta get some fish asap with me new toy

The V400G prototype sample I received in the mail today tests clear at 35kg dead lift...15kg max drag rating and rated for max PE8 line...The V550A Mr Mogi is using is a 45kg dead lift monster!!...A first for a jig blank...95% carbon super light unlike high % fibreglass jig blanks... I think we will be seeing a lot from Synit in the near future!

Yes I noticed the metal reelseat and was amazed that its even lighter than most of the rods we've come across so far. Can't wait to see you in action with the new wonder stick buddy!

    Cheers mate!

If you slap on some Ti-SIC guides and a graphite reel seat on a Synit Venom blank...you'd feel like you're jigging with a bass rod!

Will you guys be selling the blanks or just off-the-rack rods?

Re: The future of Jigging Blanks?

Heres another nice blank with similiar deadlift capabilities.

This blank in the clip was bout 5'8, weighs way below 180g, deadlifts 40+ in the test clip, breaks at over 60+ and is made from 100% high elastic carbon. Could have made it even more powerful but would have been disaligned with the max drag of all the jig reels out there, not to mention only fishable by Arnold Swarchnagger. This was technology of about 4 to 5 years back, so I believe what is avail now might supersede this.

Re: The future of Jigging Blanks?

    Hi Mark,

Just noticed that Mogi's rod is "acid" wrapped. Always wanted to try that configuration. Do you have any rods done that way? If yes, how's the performance? Wait..... I guess you do have one now since you got that piece in for field testing Hahaha!!! Stoopid me!!! Can't wait for your report.

Also noticed that the blank weave pattern looks similar to the Patriot Design rods.

    Best regards,
    Makaira

    Hi JIGW,

Might that blank in the clip be the predecessor of Mikey's GFM special?

I think Glen Kross aka Gman is the man to talk to for the USA market.

    Hi Juan,

A totally different animal from the Cosmotech. Cosmotech blanks are quite heavy like PD rods I understand and contain a high % of fiberglass.

The Synit venoms on the other hand are very very light...if you think the full Ti-SIC Zenaq jig rods are light, you will be amazed that the Synit venom with Al reel seat and non Ti guides is even lighter!

Kevlar- You can get Matagi blanks with a Kevlar outer wrap as well...it's not the Kevlar outerwrap which makes the Venoms special...instead it it is the combination of carbon materials.

Not all Synit Venoms have an outer wrap of Kevlar...the baby 250 Venom will have a different outerwrap...

Please feel free to come have a look at the sample we have in the shop...we are expecting delivery middle of next month

    cheers,
    mark

Sorry for the delay in replying...was out country for a few days...

Yes, all Synit Venoms from Synit configured for overhead use will be acid wrapped...have not tested one myself...waiting for Alor in 2 weeks

So many emails and questions on the Venoms now... The rod feels perfect...now better get some nice fish

We will be selling the blanks as well!

    cheers,

    Hi Mark,
Nope, thats not the predecessor, used to roll out quite a few such sticks for tests and some fun. Wasnt a big enough market for those back then, but was always and still is amazed at how much abuse some of these sticks could really take.
