| Super Moderator | Cheap & effective jig Not sure if this has been brought up before but I guess it'll be good if we can share some tips on cheap & effective jigs that can be found locally. To get the ball rolling, my vote goes to Ofmer! I love the glow/pink back ones the most. |

Hey don't knock the blue fox, Mikey has seen it in action.... It caught 4 different species in one morning and the biggest ones too.... There are a ton of clones out there ranging from the "White Rabbit" versions (do you guys remember when WR meant a kind of sweet with rice paper wrapping) to the more "upmarket" clones like Technics etc etc. Just today, I saw a bunch of clones of the Spanyid and Sniper range of Raider Jigs fame. Of course I don't believe that the clones will have the same balance as the originals but they are always tempting things to get. I second Mikeys recommendation for the Ofmer range for their build quality and nice design but to be honest I haven't caught anything on them yet, but I think Mikey has. The humble Blue Fox range is actually amazing value for money and I believe mimics the baitfish action pretty well too. Favorite colours for me are Pink, Lumo, Gold/Chartreuse and anything that looks like the colours off a bonito or slimy mackerel. Good topic Mikey, I would also actually like to know everyone's favorite choice for terminals like swivels, hooks and snap swivels too. Mine are Rosco 220lb swivels for making ranggongs (Cheap and OK Quality), Owner 3/0 Snap Swivels, Owner 2/0 or 3/0 Swivels and of course Gamakatsu hooks on the Octopus pattern. Regards, Saimee

IMHO, the most effective reasonably priced jigs I've used are the Raider & the OK jigs. Edy ........ you mean Muthu's Curry Fish Head Curry has vertically integrated into making hooks now?

Another upon a time, Wahoos took three of my those pink little Sure Catch jig away, one after another, all because I refuse to use wire. Lucky, those are Sure Catch jigs, if not I'll need to take up a few more part-time jobs before I could earn enough money to replace the lost jigs. |

| Super Moderator | Re: Cheap & effective jig Zeck, the Bluefox Sardine and Ofmers are around the $6-7 region. Jolly good stuff! After Brunei, I bought some Bluefox myself and used them at Sarawak on Mackies... worked just as well! I wouldn't go jigging without at least one of these jigs in my tackle bag

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Re: Cheap & effective jig which one is the bluefox jig? I also see a couple of Saurus in your collection Mike. Is there much of a difference in how to work those? The "wrinkled" one vs normal one? That dark grey with red eye also looks very promising. What jig is that? |

On top of that I found also another OFMER jig slightly slimmer with shinny scale like skin pattern with light blue back very effective too. Folco Daimond Jig also super effective but too bad not selling locally only can get it in malaysia.
