| Junior Member | Are All Jigging Reels High Gear Ratio? Vertical jigging you need up and down your jigs with a high gear ratio jigging reel. Now there are pro jigging reels but what I have seen is usually fisherman using spinning reels for jigging work. So does that mean a high gear ratio reel will do the work. ![]()

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Re: Are All Jigging Reels High Gear Ratio? I'm not entirely sure what you are asking but if you decide to use a spinning reel, you want to choose a low ratio reel. Easier to turn handle when winding up jigs, therefore less tiresome for the angler! E.g. Low ratio Shimano Stella 20000SW for jigging, and high ratio Shimano Stella 18000SW for popping. |
