| Super Moderator | What's the toughest 2pc/10 feet/30-80lb class spin rod you've ever come across? I'm looking for a rod to match my Fin-Nor OFS95. Any idea what those land-based shark hunters in Africa uses? Considering the 10' Ocea GT (Shore Type) but if there's something reliable and cheaper out there... please do let me know! Thanks |

My Mood: Rep Power: 3 ![]() | I have a friend who was a guide in Namibia.... There are a few blanks which I remember he was using but they are all for multipliers. Those rods are capable of casting half a bonito or 1lb equivalent in a plain lead weight! If you are interested I can name a few but they are 13ft-14ft rod and a few blanks from France are longer in length (they are rung for Fix spool) Last edited by Jacktrevally : 16-10-2006 at 11:32 AM. |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Mike, the Shimano Ocea (Rock version) or the UFM Ulua? |

| Super Moderator | Zeck, I think the Ulua might be a little too "finesse" for big rays. Unlike GT which swim around... dragging a ray is pretty much like hauling a big, inflated thrash bag against the current!! And I doubt ANY ray is worth breaking a Ulua for Last edited by stickbom! : 16-10-2006 at 06:08 PM. |

My Mood: Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Ron thompson Axellerator, 12ft version! They have a version rung for fix spool reel. Not as stiff as the 13.6ft but this rod will land big fish no problem. They are very very cheap about 250 SGD Last edited by Jacktrevally : 17-10-2006 at 11:13 PM. |

| Super Moderator | Thanks Jack. Any idea where I can find them in SG and are they known to have problems/inconsistency between production runs? |

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Jack, That's one hell of a rod. I think it was designed for heavy surf fishing. That's the kind of rod which one will want to use while surf fishing for those 50-60kgs copper sharks in South Africa. Mike, Any good 3 pcs rod readily available here can handle our stingrays, easy to transport around too. Last weekend a 25kgs Shovelnose was landed by a friend of mine on a 3 pcs rod without any problem. Regards Physlo |
