When you say "light" jigging... jig size? line class? depth of fishing ground? If I'm not wrong Daiwa 2500 and Shimano 2500 are different in size. Actually a lot of these smaller reels are meant for Seabass fishing so you're probably better off using a Freams J/Navi PG if you're going to fish higher than 20lb test/100g jig. Personally I'll prefer to use the reels you mentioned for jigs under 50g and no more than 15lb test. Trying to grind these small reels with jigs over 100g attached would cause excessive wear on the gears.

Jason,
Recently I despool my Shimano Twinpower 8000P and found the spool corroded Im so upset for it as only used around 4times in saltwater. My the other reel Ocea Jigger 3000P has the same problem.

So now I rather get Daiwa reel than Shimano as these Shimano high end reel broke my little heart.

Fren told me that need to unspool the line after each trip but I just stone head that not listen to them. End up...

My freamsJ after trips still looking good on the spool even I'm no despool the line. So my choice will go to Daiwa. Sorry guys, off topic abit.

Eh Pornstar Babe, most of us are aiming for stuff from Japan... you should seriously consider giving the Tenryu a pass. I am very sure you will if you see what we're getting. Then not long after I will see a Tenryu on sale But then again... miss this chance and you might be stuck with the Jig Zam for quite a while. By the way, I don't think the folding handle on your Certate is going to hold up for serious jigging.

I totally agree that the anodizing on Daiwa reels are tougher than Shimano but ask yourself this bro... when you have line on the Twinpower, is the corrosion visible Also, does the corrosion on your spool affect the performance of the reel Since you already have the two above mentioned reels, just let them serve you until their time is up

PS. I'm not biased... I own both Daiwa/Shimano reels AND for the record I still think the Daiwa babe Yuko is A LOT hotter than Shimano's Reiko :P

Stickbom bro, the line inside the spool around 9mths. When the line is fulled you cant see the corrosion
I still wonder will the rusted area rubbing away my braided line when friction I use tackle guard, wd4d to brush away the corrosion area...
Just thinking of sell off these reels and change to Saltiga iZe Z30 and Certate. But I just don't like the Certate's handle.

Any one ? Shimano reel buyer here

Kind of confused on getting the right combo for light jigging using 200gms max....
Ya ,I agreed that Certate handle needs to change to RCS handles.....
Kinda of EX also......$2XX for the handles set plus the knob.....

Cheers

The corrosion on your Twinpower will not damage the line. If you're really disturbed by the corrosion, what you can do is wipe the area with some alcohol, let it dry and apply a layer of clear nail polish over it (Sally Hansens would do nicely... quick drying and tough ). It's a shame to sell of your gear just because of some surface corrosion. In future, if your'e fussy about corrosion issues go for Daiwa. Still, some basic maintenance is required otherwise ANY REEL will corrode

Seriously lar... dun use the Certate for jigging. I asked some reliable tackle shops in Beach Rd about using these new Daiwa reels for jigging and they told me that you CAN do it (small jigs <100g) but its not recommended. And I believe them because these reels were designed for Seabass luring. I'd rather use a Freams J for jigging if you let me choose between the Certate 4000 and the Freams 4000J. Imagine adding a $200 handle to that $500 Certate of yours... its going to be $700 You might as well buy a Safari

As for your rod, I really don't know what to recommend because no one (even yourself) is certain if that Certate 4000 will be actually used for jigging.

If you tell me the Certate is going to be used for Mahi Mahi or other smaller Pelagics (Plug Casting) then that's a different story...

Roger that........
Actually I intend to use it for light popping for sailfish and other surface fish...Juz that I thought that if can be use for light jigging ,that will be great....Two in one......!!!!!

Actually wat I am looking at for the rod is that I can cast poppers with the rod for Sailfish and at the same time jig using small jigs like <100gms.......

Actually stated at the box .Certate 4000 can load up to 7kg drag but I don really believe it as wat U say is true,it mainly used for bass fishing.....So the drag will not be that great........

Cheers
Jason
