My Mood:  Rep Power: 2   | Reel Foot Hi All, Not too sure what we call this part. See red arrow. How do we do preventive maintenance to the "reel foot"? Do we spray with "Corrosion X" or? This is normally dead bolted for most reels I come across and the gaps inbetween are hard to acccess for cleaning and greasing. I just normally spray thoroughly with water after each trip only. Is this suffice? Cheers! th2x

My Mood:  Rep Power: 4 | Re: Reel Foot Usually, just rinsing is sufficient, but twice a year, I will remove the spool so that I can see the inside of thr frame where the reel foot is riveted or bolted on. I make sure the rivets/studs/bolts are cleaned and then lightly coated with my outoboard motor grease. For the area between the reel foot and the frame, as you said, it is very difficult to access for cleaning. Usually, I will just inspect it as best as I can after washing and drying and I'll use a cotton bud to clean around the studs and then a small paintbrush with grease to coat that area.... Haven't had any problems yet on my OJs. Regards, Saimee
