Re: reel

hi there, when you mention cheap, what is your budget? when you mention light, surfcast spinning reels aint light. Most popular surfcast reel out there in the market is the Daiwa Powersurf QD weighing in @ 500++ g and cost ard $280? @ Deepsea( to be verified). Or the more upmarket Daiwa Basia which cost even more but weighs lighter. Gina Changi has a surfcasting reel Daiwa Emblem, if im not wrong selling for $168<- may be good for your budget. The downside is this reel is not as smooth as the abovementioned and is made in China. Alternatively, u can go Tan Thong Cheong to check out Shimano's range of surfcasting reels...

Re: reel

Hi,

For a cheap reel, you can look for either for a shakespeare Brutus, it has a tapered spool is excellent for surf casting, the tica scepter which is not bad either and the Okuma Oryx.

All with a long spool for surfcasting. These reels not only are cheap but if you give them a good wash after your fishing trip they will last. There are other reels like grauvels ect... but they would not be easy to find on the SG market.

Cheers,

JT

Re: reel

the freamsj might be ideal for you with a stated max drag of 9kg, and good line capacity.. cost abt $150.
