| Junior Member | Power Handle from Kaikon, Trinidad, Ocea Jigger etc that fits TLD15? Good morning guys, Would like to enquire if any of the original power handles from Kaikon, Trinidad, Ocea Jigger, Torium etc fits the TLD 15? Would like to upgrade the handle to a power handle on my TLD 15. Lastly, if anyone has a spare handle to let go, please PM me. Thanks in advance! In addition, if anyone has a spare Daiwa Saltiga conventional reel handle assembly to let go, please let me know too. Cheers! |

| Super Moderator | he he he! DFM has a "hybrid" Accurate Boss... it has a Shimano Jigger/Kaikon style handle on it. SO... if anyone can help you, it's got to be DFM |

| Moderator | Melvin, Its a little difficult for me to give you a 100% reply here, 'cos I have not got a TLD15 at hand, nor have I worked on one before. Ok the more encouraging news is that after looking at the schematics for the TLD 10 & 15 star if you have the star version, it certainly looks like they have the same basic handle hole as the Kaikon, Trini handles, so hopefully you will not need to do some basic grinding and filing like I did to make it fit on my 665. I have checked the handle thickness for a TLD30II and a Kaikon and they are both 4mm thick, so the depth of the handle nut should not be an issue. If you have the lever version and clearances are identical to the TLD30II, then it should also fit subject to the same caveats on measuring dude. My advice to you is to beg, borrow or steal( A new handle is not cheap though dude, if memory serves me right, its around S$70. I do actually have a heavily used spare handle (with corrosion damage around the hole) for a Kaikon, but I am keeping it for when the one on my 665 gets destroyed. Sorry I can't be of more help dude. Regards, Saimee

| Moderator | Melvin, Ok, I just had a look at the TLD 15 Lever Drag version schematic and it looks to use the same handle as the star drag and also the same handle hole. Thats good news. So I guess its up to experimentation on your side now. Let us know how it goes. If you want, take off your handle now and and measure the hole dimensions and thickness of the handle. The Kaikon handle hole is 8mm long and 5mm wide. Thickness is 4mm. The ends of the holes are a rounded "D" shape. If your TLD handle has a hole of the same dimensions and shape, I think you are half way there already. The length of the Kaikon handle from the centre of the furthest hole to the beginning of the offset is about 43-44mm. The depth of the offset is about 10-11mm. On the TLD30II thats sufficient to clear the drag preset knob and the offset is shallow enough to clear the lever. Hope the same is the case for the TLD15. Good luck dude. Regards, Saimee

| Junior Member | Hi guys, I fixed a Torium handle onto the TLD15 and it was a good match. However, after looking at a Kaikon and Trinidad, I know why the Torium handle is cheap (S$30 plus), the Torium handle arm looks to be made by forging, while the Kaikon/Trinidad handle is machined/milled and looks sleeker. When I get back home, I will post a picture of the TLD with the Torium handle. I might be tempted to buy a Trinidad/Kaikon handle though. I am always on the quest of improving cranking! |

| Moderator | Hey Jon, Good to hear from you. Yes the Trini handle to the Calcutta 700 is a direct swap, I think it shares quite a few parts with the Trini. You using it for swimbaits and GTs? Saimee

| Senior Member | Saimee , I haven't used that reel for awhile since the swap of the handle , it's one of those things when you switch gears and the old gears found no use at all , I am pretty much use casting technique nowaday for fishing and even my jigging outfit ( spinning ) is used for all purpose fishing from bottom fishing to jigging to light trolling . While trolling , myself go to sleep ! Certainly over the years I have accumulated heavy metal gears which are collecting dust in the store room . JonLi . |

| Junior Member | Hi guys, Thanks for the feedback so far. Attached are the pictures of the TLD15 with the Torium handle, but I feel the looks is a bit 'chor'. I am still checking if the Trinidad/Kaikon handle will fit the TLD 15. If it does, I will purchase one set for my TLD 10. I have also contacted Shimano, but there is no response yet. Will give Shimano Singapore a ring on Monday, but not sure if their customer service in this aspect is strong. Jon, do you have a TLD 15 with you? If you do, hope you can do me a favour by checking if the Trinidad handle fits the TLD 15. If you don't, don't mind telling me the dimension of the hole (length x width) on your original Calcutta 700 handle? Thanks. |

| Senior Member | Melvin , No TLD15 but here is the dimension of the hole ; it's 8mm x 5mm , the former is rounded . Jon . |

Thanks! To confirm, the rounded part is at the width of the hole. Also, to be doubly sure, the thickness of my TLD15 handle is 4mm. What is the thickness of your Trinidad handle? Looks like I can place my order very soon.

| Moderator | Melvin, Matey, if the Torium handle fits then, 100% sure that a Kaikon or Trini handle will fit dude. Saimee

| Senior Member | Melvin , The thickness of the original Calcutta handle is 3mm which is the same as the Trinidad handle . size being nominal as I don't have caliper to do the measurements . The hole has 2 sides rounded , 8mm is the max. distance between 2 points on the rounded part . Jon . |

The Calcutta 700 that you have, does it have a levelwind? If it doesn't and you want to clear your storeroom, let me know. Cheers.

Thanks for all the valuable advice. Shimano Singapore has confirmed to me that the Trinidad 16 handle does fit the TLD15, but it is not advisable to swap the handle. I guess that due to the longer torque arm, and given the same magnitude of the cranking, the gears will be subjected to higher stress?

| Senior Member | Melvin , My CT700 is one with level wind , the one without level wind is CT700S . I beg to differ on the handle swap , there are 2 positions on which you can put Trinidad handle onto the reel and they differ by 10 mm and in my Ocea Jigger 3000P , it is put on the on far end position but when putting on that CT700 of mine , the near end position looks better .
