New trend: dual purpose inshore jig & surface lure rods

6'6" rod from CB-ONE designed for both dorado surface lures and light jigs for inshore use:

http://www.cb-one.co.jp/rod/rod_66ml66bait/index.htm

Some rods from the Carpenter black current series range appear to be suitable for dual use too:

http://www.carpenter.ne.jp/subwebbccatalog.htm

Might be good for Nenasi/Rompin use

I suspect there's a whole bunch of other rods that can do the same thing. The manufacturer might not have marketed the rod as a "jigging stick" but rods like the Tenryu Spike, Saurus Decksticks are pretty much capable of doubling up as a light jigging rod.

Yo Cheng,

BC60M casts very well like a Carpenter usually does but I feel rear grip is a bit short for jigging. It's more of a surface lure rod. Longer rear grip makes it more comfortable for jigging. Tenryu Spike's rear grip also a bit short.

Sea state was not good with strong winds in the afternoon. Sotong only 1pc but it was pretty big. Total for 3 days was 3 sails and 1 marlin. Bottom zero

You're right that's why they bring to my rod builder extend it. It looks lure casting rod to me, they match with Shout 20-30g surface jig, friend $600 not $60, can buy CB-One already....^_^

I use the BC60M for jigging up to 150g jigs. Agree that the back handle is a bit short. I have the reel seat moved slightly forward but on the whole, it is a better casting rod than a jigging rod.

Yes Tuna, I have a BC60M too and it really kicks ass casting! I have tried using up to 60g jigs with this stick...it's interesting that you find the BC60M capable of handling up to 150g jigs.

Cheers

Re: New trend: dual purpose inshore jig & surface lure rods

Hey Edy the CB-ONE is more of a small lure/Mahi Mahi/Skipjack rod... don't think its going to come in very handy for your big trip.

Anyone bought the GARU stick? Any reviews? The super-parabolic action is soooo slinky and enticing, but don't really know how well it'll work on the water...
