Need Recommendation for a PE2-5 Spinning Outfit.

Hi all,

Need some help from fellow experienced anglers here for some recommendations.

As i don't use spinning outfit for bottom at all but as my father-in-law whom reccently started to join me in short trips around the neighbouring area and the furthest should be Tanjung Pinang, i was thinking to get a spinning set for him as he prefers spinning reels and for me to act as a spare set. I'm prefer to be a bit "kiasu" therefore looking at PE2-5 range of outfit.

A Big THnkas for any replies in advance!

Cheers!

galanted, what is your budget range? Think for PE2-5 quite a lot of choices.

Thanks Octopus & htchng.

My Budget would be below $500 for both. Main purpose is should be for bottom fishing at Tanjung Pinang area.

Using spinning reel for bottom fishing is not ideal because it is difficult to drop the line into the bottom. But if your father in law insists ... i would recommend to get a jig wrex + daiwa freams J 4500

But i hope you could consider to use an overhead setup.

0.2cents

Thanks edylie!

Is the Freams 4500J suitable for a PE2-5 Rod? I'll need 300mtr of PE3 Braided Line and a Drag Settings similiar to the Avet SX at +-9ibs.

Freams and Jigwrex seems to be my choice in this case. Freams should be retailing at 150+- and Jigwrex 250+- and still got some $$$ for PE4 YGK Jigman line. Sounds ok for my budget!

Thanks Guys!

Thanks Guys! I think i would stick to FreamsJ as it's been well rated countless times. Still feel it's a safer bet.

Any comments on the Jigwrex? Is it well worth that 269 Bucks? Also, does it comes in Butt Joint?

yup the jigwrex comes with butt join. I think for $269 its worth the money. I own the jigwrex 1-3 and it serves its purpose well. I think the freams u can go beach rd and get it. Slightly cheaper than at Changi. BUt be reminded, the jigwrex is made in batam and the freams is made in thailand...hope this helps!

Made in Batam is not an issue. What matters is who's making it I've seen and used the Wrex. Can't complain for the decent price tag it comes with
