Need help on the Tenryu Spike...

Hi there
I juz got my Tenryu Spike SK601-12 ....
Was wondering wat U guys would recommend to pair with???
I had Certate 2500 but I feel its kind of too small for the rod althought the specs fits the combo prefectly.....
Was wondering if a size 3000 reel will fit the rod better???
I have diffcultly casting good distance with this setup for minnows like maria chase....
Only thing that is good for casting is popper ......

Hope anyone with this setup or rod can share share a bit .....

Cheers
Jason

Latok Jason,

Changing to a bigger or smaller reel will not make you cast further lah. My guess is that the rod was meant to cast heavier lures. Check out the recommended casting weight.

PS: Don't go round wasting $$ looking for another reel hor. Remember JD is cumming. Later got no time to test em out. Better spend time planting seeds..hahaha

Cheers!

Yo Physlo
I also busy finding places to plant my seeds....Heehehehehehe!!!!

Back to topic
I still find the reel is too small for the rod to achieve good distance
Maybe the butt is thick that why......
But with poppers ,the distance is good but as far as I wish....

I might need to find another rod or reel liao

Cheers
Jason

Bro, reel size has nothing to do with casting distance. How do you rig leader/lure and what size are your lures? When you free? We go Pasir Ris big pond one weekend to cast lures....will try casting your outfit to see whats the real problem.

At first I wanted to release the fish some where else but we juz started fishing so I leave it a side first......
U know how I carry the fish back from PRP???
Wrap in black plastic bag and carry on both arms like a baby.....
Walk pass the coffee shop....PP thought I smuggle baby man....
Many eyes on me....Stress!!!!!
Run all the way to my car ....
At my place,I thought the fish died liao....But after I put it in the tub of water,it came alive....
With help of my dad, we bring the fish to xxxxx to release....
But after to no valid.....The fish died.....

So I bring back the fish....

hahahaha! Funny story about the black trash bag... eh the pond operator never offer to give you free fishing session or buy back that big grouper meh? Usually they do that one leh. Furthermore you yanked the fish back so fast... it should still be in pretty good shape for release. It's really nice to know your dad and yourself bothered to try releasing the fish. Not many would do that after carrying it all the way home. I think the tub of freshwater actually killed it though
