Hi David
Both are very good reels in their line class....

U are right in getting the 870N in 50lbs should get u ard 400m while Z30 will hold at least 300-400m of 30lb.....

But both reels are very simliar in line class and drag class....

The only thing is one is star drag and one is lever drag.,.....

Cheers
Jason

HT, if you intend to jig with the reels, DO NOT fill them to the brim. Lets say the Z30 is rated for 300m/PE3 then just fill it with 300m/Ultra Jigman PE2 (still about 30lb test). This way you can just crabk without worrying about the line lay

Hi HT
If U are getting the saltiga series, get the z series cos of the narrow profile.
Easier for U jig without having the hassel to lie back the line....

Cheers
Jason

Re: Line class suggestion for Saltiga 30 & 870N

It's worth noting that the Saltiga Z30 has a less line capacity than the Saltiga 30.

Yo bro,

Are you referring to the 870N (the narrow version) that can hold 400m of 50lbs?

Saltiga SA 30 is equivalent to the Saltiga Z40.

Z30 you can load in PE3 YGK Jigman, and still can jig comfortably.

Correct. Saltiga SA 30 will hold easily 300 m of PE6, same as Saltiga Z40.
