| Super Moderator | JGFA Record 170cm 50kg Amberjack caught on... Was just watching a reeeeally old video of Japanese anglers fishing in Amami Japan. The famous Mogi-San, founder of GROUPER BOYS, landed a JGFA Record Amberjack (170cm/50kg-Over 100lbs) with an old Valley Hill Manewver Stick 70 match with an ABU overhead. Can't really tell if it was an 8000 or 9000. Also, I've always thought that the Shimano Calcutta 700 was crappy but apparently, Gamakatsu Field Tester, Mr Nagai Seiichi managed to land fish over 20kg (can't remember whether it was a Dogtooth Tuna or AJ) with the CT700 paired to a whippy looking early generation Gamakatsu jig stick. With advance reels like the Jigger, Saltiga, Boss & Blue Heaven these days, I really can't imagine how much technical advantage we have over fishes ![]() Just found some photos of a Gamakatsu rod thats very similar to the one used by Mr Nagai Seiichi plus the Valley Hill Manewver stick used by Mr Mogi in the video Last edited by stickbom! : 28-08-2006 at 08:19 PM. |
