How to differentiate between a spinning & a boat rod?

Hi,

Recently I bought a 5ft one piece rod. Thinking it is a boat rod.

A few days later, the shop that sold me the rod say it's a spinning rod

How can I be sure? Any advice?

The rod is a Penn rod. It is printed on the rod as Jig Master Series. For trolling/bottom/jigging.

TIA

for spinning rods .. the stripper guide i.e. the guide closest to the reel seat is usually very big and spinning usually less guides.
