Hey Hoooooooooon-Su!! Have you seen the new...

Paging for Mr. Honsu

Dude, have you seen the new Berkley Dropshot rods? I was just browsing the Aussie Purefishing site and came across the rod. Check out the specs

SW600
6'
1 piece
10-24kg
Offshore spin

SW600EXH
6'
1 piece
15-37kg
Offshore spin

SWOH600
6'
1 piece
15-30kg
Overhead

If they're cheap... and built "Australian tough" then it may be a cheap option for beginners who are new to jigging or budget conscious individuals

hey Mike, we have them here in NZ. They are very thin dia blanks and fairly parabolic when loaded. They have a reputation here of breaking - but maybe OK in areas where fishes are smaller. Fairly cheap here at NZ$179 each.

Thumbs down

yes I have......very......overrated.......good for medium stuff......37kg?? more like 24kg for the 600EXH. Personally I think the cheaper($120-150aud) you go, the level of quality also go cheaper. Thats why my shop dont sell them. If you want budget, go the Silstar Crystal Blue powertips or buy 2nd hand.

Their light Dropshot rods however are a different story. One of the best value rods on the market for the light to medium line classes. Around $90-100aud

Thanks for the reply guys We don't have samsons or kingies here so beginners are very likely to use these entry level rods for fish under 10 kilos. Very safe

Oh by the way, have you guys come across the new Rapala Braid Concept rods? I think there's 4 jigging models there too. 2 for overhead and 2 for spinner. I suspect that the Rapala rods might look/feel better than the Berkley ones.

I have not seen it but will see it within 2 weeks becoz we are stocking it. Locally designed by my 2 mates in Perth. So......it should be good.......
Okuma also has their own range of jigging rods and quite well priced for the budget minded.

I'll get some pics for you once they arrive.

I'm sure I saw them at the recent AFTA show a few weeks ago - sorry, I can't remember much of them. .The rods I did notice were the new Okuma jig rods - short, parabolic, bumpy foregrip, good build quality, good components and seems promising.
