hahaha.... these cases are used for carrying fire arms man! Really tough but it's going to cost as much as one of your expensive reels Was just telling my wife about it the other day... if I use this case and my plane crashes, my reels will probably be the only thing that survives. LOL

I used to use a case like that for some of my dive gear. They are great cases and like Mike said, they will probably survive events that you wouldn't...

But the cost is high and they are heavy and bulky. If you are going to fish in really bad places, they are an option, but for most usage where mild impact and basic waterproofing are required, look at Mikey's post on Lock & Lock boxes. Companies like Land & Sea also make similar cases in nice bright yelow colours.

its expensive but still affordable.....if u compare to e price of 2stella n 2jigger .Now airport getting very troublesome. if u die die must check in your reel how? i once had my hardcase luggage badly crushed when i received it at the airport belt. Imagine all the reels inside.

Guess you have a point there... but be careful of weight limits! The Pelican case alone already weigh quite a lot... I've carried them at my workplace before

There's a Sports Shop just next to Hong Guan that sells these pelican cases looks similar...prices ranges from $129 to $600, thought it was water proof but only splash proof. But looks pretty tough

As Mikey has said, gotta watch out for the weight limit. I believe it's between 7kg and 10kg for "chicken class".

Yes, they don't usually weigh hand carries but you never can tell...bear in mind also that a Pelican 1510 is hardly nondescript and may draw unwanted attention from airport staff as well....but of course you do have a point buddy and it's a nice sturdy piece of protection for our reels...i just feel that a good hard case like the one Narc uses is more than sufficient.

In Rodrigues last year, the ground staff informed us that there was a weight limit of 27kg per check-in item for our domestic flight...so we had to repack some heavy bags although Francis had bargained for a 50kg allowance for each of us...these regulations vary from airport to airport unfortunately, depends on the carrier too.

I've got one of those full-size 1630 models and they are Da Bomb!!!! Virtually indestructable and can store all gear required for a long range trip. Pretty sure that it is more than just "splash proof" Bought it post-9/11 to check in fishing gear when airports started getting sticky about carry-on baggage and contents in them. Hardly use it these days as I have no problems whatsoever carrying on the reels I need for the destinations I fish at. The 1510 does look very appealing though just in case you run into some hard nosed by-the-book check-in counter staff or gate keepers at some airports that insist you check it in.

SKB also makes a pretty decent line of luggage for fishing equipment too.
