GF600MH Under Load

Just for you Mikey.

Just received this picture from my friend's camera. Did not know he took this shot. Cannot remember what fish this was though.

You can see what dismal weather we were fishing in from the wet weather gear I was wearing

Re: GF600MH Under Load

Hi guys,

Pardon my ignorance but is this a new GF blank? I have a GF600XL 10-25lb and used to think that was the only GF600 blank around.

cheers

Re: GF600MH Under Load

Edy .... dun disturb old man with Beatles hairstyle lar

Rolexking .... my particular rod, I would rate it as 30-60.

MarkR ... you have gone Taiwanese and Nihonjin for too long already There are now two more blanks in the GF600 series. Having said that, I don't think you will find it listed on the US websites as yet because I believe these were designed for the Aussie market; just like the GF410 -- those who know better, please correct me if I am mistaken. Having said that, there are two versions of these new blanks in the market. AO has the "lighter" version and Sabre has a "heftier" version. Why, I have no idea. I have pulled on both & opted for the heftier version.

Re: GF600MH Under Load

thanks for the confirmation.
mm show me a blank, however, he's not willing to tell me wat's the model.
it should be around 30-60 or 30-80.... but it's thinner than 760L and the tip's faster in action... guess it could be a 600m or somethin.
nice action on ur rod.
thanks

KK,

Sorry dude, I must be a bit stoned out at the moment , do you mean that there are 2 versions of the 600MH?.... or does that mean that there are like a 600M and a 600MH?. Noticed that Mudhole has the GF410 and GF600M, but no MH...

Either way, the bend on your rod is very nice, what kind of load were you running in the pic?.

Mikey,

Ahem, do tell me when you bug Ben, I may well follow suit... Ughhhh so many rods, so little deniro.....

Saimee

Yo Saimee,

Actually, this new series of GF600 blanks available in Singapore is like a Nancy Drew mystery. If you get it from Sabre, you will notice that their yellow Calstar sticker specifying the model number at the base of the blank will be mutilated to hide the info and the counter staff will be a little "evasive" with questions pertaining to the exact specs of the blanks
Anyways, I have always had full confidence in Calstar and my friend of many years working in Sabre will not "snook" me so to speak. So I got it.

I really have no idea what the actual model number is for the rod you see in the picture. The MH designation is as per LT's hand written script on the rod. Perhaps he managed to decipher that from whatever he could see on the "disfigured" label on the blank.

If I remember correctly, I was probably running about 6kg drag on that reel. That particular moment captured in that photo seems like I was about to begin my downstroke to gain line so while still under load, it was not fully loaded. It is a beauty to behold when under full load though For me at least.

Best regards,
Makaira

Re: GF600MH Under Load

Have seen a GF600L being made into a 5ft 3" light jigging rod, is this the blank you guys are talking about here?

I am not sure about the rod poundage though....

L is lighter while M is the higher rating.
