Fin-Nor offshore spinner- massive 60lbs drag!

Leave the stellas, saltigas, twinspins & van staals at home boys, go get a Fin-Nor offshore!

Massive 60lbs+ twin drags, twindrags, 100lb braid rated and take a look at those gears

Looks like serious competition for the Japanese spinners

Hi Mark ,

Just look at the grip on the handle , do you think you can crank with your fingers instead of the whole hand ? Things like these make me wonder whether they really know how hard it is to crank at 60 lbs drag set , or they just calculate the surface area of the drag washers x coefficient of the drag washers surface and arrive at such and such lbs. of drag ? Looks like an external bail too .

Certainly a good looking profile but remain to be seen if this will will really perform as claimed , now who is buying one ?

What's the basis of advising fisho to ditch Japanese product?
According to specs Stella 10k and 20k can deliver 30kg drag which is equal to 66.1386lb.
That's higher than the 60lb that was quoted right?
Or am I missing something here..

Pelagic dude.... take it easy man ... MarkR was just making a "tongue in cheek" comment, don't take us too seriously....

Hi Jon,

Yes, the handle paddle looks a bit tiny.

Thinking of heavy drag settings and big reels reminds me of an old Australian production titled "Marlin from the Rocks" . There was an angler fishing from a cliff and I distinctly recall that he was able to palm a Tiagra 50 with his left hand and crank with the right hand- no belt, handled the Tiagra 50 as if it were an Ambassadeur 5000

hehehe... MarkR... base on specs, the Fin-Nor indeed sounds impressive but maaaaaaaaan its even uglier than my Van Staal Then again, if it's cheap, why the hell not!

Pricewise, Tackle Direct has them listed at US$140-170 or roughly S$230-280, so I guess if you really want a decent similar alternative to the old Penn 9500ss, then this is it guys. Even the smallest size has more than enough capacity for most applications that we use spinners.

Pair the smallest sized reel (OFS65) with a PE-8 JigWrex, load on PE8/80lb Braid and you would have a heck of a "Budget" Jig Outfit.

Hmmmmm this would make a good crew spinning reel.

Another affordable piece of gear for offshore use. Things are really brightening up for low-mid income group anglers like myself

Don't tempt me with the G4!! I've got 6 BC rods staring @ me from the rod rack already

I'm not very sure about the reel foot size yet... will let you know when my OFS95 arrives FYI I won't be using this reel for jigging

I'm going to load this big mama spinner with 20lb Momoi Diamond (Under-rated/breaks at about 40lb!) and go hunting for rays from shore!

I was told that the OFS isn't in stock yet and to check back in 2-3 weeks time. I'll try my luck again in early November
