David,

The which biomaster 8000PG model do you have the 2002 or the 2005.

The 2002 schematic doesn't show any of the drag washers in the spool, the 2005 schematic shows 6 washers that look like 3 metal and 3 carbon/carbonfibre discs.

You have mail.

Regards,

Saimee

after thorough investigation with Saimee.... it seems that the split ring is missing... symtom is when you SHAKE the spool... the drag washers will move UP and DOWN!! and since this is a newly replaced spool.... i am going to ESCALATE to the AGENT ... again...

just got the latest feedback from the local tackle shop, it seems like most of the new reels have this kind of SYMTOM... not sure if it's normal... if you guys have chances try to shake your shimano spinning reel's spool up and down to check if there are sounds coming from the inner spool itself...

Mikey,

I don't have an 02 Biomaster 8000PG but the schematic doesn't give any details of the drag stack or related parts. I just took out my 02 Twinpower 8000PG and there is a star shaped wire retaining thingy at the front of the drag stack in the spool and nothing shakes in there, even with the spool off the reel.

Any ideas dude.... I'm a bit foxed here... Anybody with an 02 BM 8000P out there?.

Saimee

Should not be a problem lar... a little play in the drag housing not crucial. As long as the drag does not make funny sound when you have a fish pulling @ the end of your line its fine. My Penn also make make all kinds of funny sound but it's okay... ask DFM, he'll know

all sifus... thanks alot for helping out the drag seems to work a OK for me when i hammered down all the way on it... funny thing is that even on full drag the spool still seems to be slightly loose.. maybe its just normal but i dont recall this kind of symtom when i first got the reel... still have to wait for the reply from the tackle shopp... hopefully some good news

HT, All Shimano reels, right up to the Stella, has some play in the main shaft so it's normal to have the spool move slightly. It's not due to the drag stack though so you're safe
