I hope they have strengthen the stem , I see the hles have not been plugged like Saltiga Z DogFight .

Hi,

I was just wondering ..... would merely plugging the holes help in anyway with the structural integrity. If the holes for the Dogfight is indeed simply plugged with the gold coloured inserts & not done away with completely, any "weakness" inherent in the design will not be eliminated as the holes are essentially still there. Hmmmmmm....

Plugged holes are still holes :P So I guess the several broken Saltiga reels Daiwa got back didn't really help much...

The 06 Blast sure looks like the 02 one to me dude

They can modify their die casting mould by getting rid of the holes but then Saltiga won't look like the previous models . Nowaday , the more holes they are , the better it looks . The new Van Stall must be the reel
that has more holes than any other reels in the market , it looks like time machine !

Yes ... but there is a difference though. The VS are CNC machine-cut from block aluminium. The jap reels are die cast, so in this case, one hole is different from another.

The holes for the VS are also functional rather than just for aesthetics. Apart from cutting down on weight, they also allow water to drain out. We must remember that VS has it's roots in surfcasting where reels get totally dunked in water big time

Van Stall is a completely different pedigree of reel than just the mere Saltiga or Stella , one is machine cut while others are diecast works .

The new one looks sharp !

You should go get one of those Van Staal VSB series with bailarm to test on the PR YellowFin Tuna's

That will be a real test of the overall reel & the drag system on a hot running fish like a 'fin!!!

Too expensive for me this new Van Stall reel , supposedly listed at
US$. 1600 , according to a friend who met the inventor at Yokohama !

YellowFin Tunas has not surfaced yet in P.Ratu , they are very late this year but I
am going to try this weekend if I can get 3 other guys to come with me .

In the picture you posted, that must be some funky new model with a spool that looks somewhat like a long cast spool? They used to have a VS400 which was a lever drag spinning reel listed at USD1999 or 2999 or some absurd price. The new VSB comes in 2 models at the moment costing under USD700. Deep Sea has them in stock, unless they are sold out

Cannot remember how much they are listing them at though.

That figure was told over cyber chat by a friend who reside in Tokyo and went to the show , possibly Japanese listed price which is well known to
be high for imported goods into Japan .

Must be new Van Staal or otherwise they won't exhibit it in Yokohama and bring the inventor himself to Japan .
