Unhappy 2 Broken Shino rods
Went to southern island on new year day nite fishing, 2 shino rods stuck to some coral and the rod bend it down the boat and broken off....PE 4

Waak.... !? 2 Shino rods broken at once ? Whoa...what a waste.

I have one Shino rod and brought it to Perth for Sambo a week ago....and it got 'Sambo Certification'.......
I think every rod can be broken if whacked into something solid like coral / rock. I also ever heard ATC rod broken into pieces after whacked versus the fence with very high drag. I mean the rod itself doesn't really bad but it's just not designed for fighting with solid rock or fence......

Kinda risky to leave the rod in rod holder when bottom fishing, esp when the boat is drifting! Any rod will snap to bits when its subjected to excessive stress, not just a Shino. Maybe you can salvage the guides if they are FUJI SIC and put them on a pair of new custom sticks?

Actually, it is okay to leave the rod in the holder, just need to be vigilant. If the drag on the reel is set correctly to match the specs of the rod, the drag should start slipping before the rod breaks, unless it is bent in an awkward angle similar to highsticking. This tends to happen when, the line goes under the boat when it swings side to side at anchor or if the anchor slips. If the rod was not bent awkwardly & still breaks with a correctly set drag, then the rod specs may be over-rated, blank has been damaged or possibly simply not up to task.

When drift fishing / bottom bumping, the rod should not be in the holder to begin with or you will kena snagged to high heaven.
