Dudes... do you think this grip configuration is comfy? Think angler will have good fightin' leverage but it will be almost impossible to do "parking" with such a short rear grip

This configuration is actually not too far off from the classic US West coast standup fighters which are usually 5 and a half footers. Should provide tremendous lifting power if the blank has a fast action with a relative high lock-up point IMHO, would have been better if the reel seat was built in an up lock instead of its downlock position -- reel will sit higher up the rod facilitating a better cranking position.

This being a Jap blank & a six footer with probably a parabolic action, I would be curious to see how it performs in this setup.

Hiya buddy, SAURUS uses high modulus graphite so its not the typical sloppy, whippy Japanese sticks most of us are familiar with. I have a power 10 jig stick at home that's so stiff, I'm actually considering using it as a laundry pole This baby here is a power 12 so I can only imagine how much the angler's back is going hurt when using it. If memory serves me right, there's still a GUSA Dragon sitting somewhere in my storeroom so I might get the guys at AO to built me something similar to this rod. What do you think? Is this configuration suitable for a blank like the Dragon?

Would appreciate input from XXH bottom bashin' gurus like Makaira/ DFM/ Chris Wong/ Fish Fingers on this matter. If this project works out... it'll be my first, my last, my only XXH bottom bashin'/overhead jigging stick.
