Day 1
As usual ,we guys meet at airport for departure to Brunei
It took 2 hours and that was a relief as long flights are very tiring and bored....
Upon reaching Brunei,We were greeted by Dafrogman ,Chang and the crews of Apollo......
After that,we book in the hotel for some rest ........

Day 2
Breakfast at the local stores make me feel at home as there are local food ard ........
Afternoon we finally board Apollo and proceed to Lousia ......
It will take us 12 hours to reach so after sorting out the rods ,I went for a nap.......
But that nap took me almost 12 hours........As I was already sea sick during the sleep.....
Trolling was done and even after passing the oil rigs ,there is still no bite and so the waiting game continued till dusk......

Day 3
We reach Lousia in the morning and started trolling ard........We got a wahoo and big angry Barracuda......
Then there was a four rod struck .......but came up barracuda.....sigh!!!!
In the afternoon ,we do some jigging and bottom fishing.........
Steven was the most hardworking jigger onboard and that got him some big Doggies......
Bottom fishing was not that good during the day.....
But night fall comes, that was different thing......It was damned happening during the night as the fish started biting ......
Jigging was done and heavy bottom was the main dish........
But our good friends below are simply too ON liao........They cut our lines even before they can reach bottom.....
They are the most hated and top of my muz kill list......They are the BARRACOTA!!!!!!!!
Vincent was so upset over the loss of rigs and lines that he cursed and sweared at them during the whole trip.......
And that hatred got into us too!!!!!
Local anglers,
Be glad that U caught catfish and not BARRACOTA ,at least catfish don cut your line !!!!!!!
Big eye Trevally and small Dogtooth were caught on jigging.......
The jigging was some hot that any jigs goes down will be wacked.......Including Surecatch and Techinc jigs...!!!!!!!!
And who can say that Surecatch and Techinc Jigs cannot catch fish.......
I also got to try using my popping set to jig and I almost regret when Fish on!!!!!
The pumping was hard and tiring and my face was red when the fish was finally landed......

Day 4
Popping was done in the morning and the result was very discouraging......No fish chasing poppers.....
So we switch to trolling ........Also nothing.!!!!!!
Afternoon we jig and bottom fish....
The usual assort bottom fish was caught ........
Late evening Alex was doing some bottom fishing …..Suddenly shouts of Dogtooth was heard!!!!Alex has got into some serious fight with the fish below…….His Blue Heaven was set at 13kgs at strike and he has to push to nearly sun set!!!!!!
The fish is still running like nothing……..Soon Vincent took over but this big hardcore man also cant take it too……Later he pass to Erdos for some breath catching…….
After 20 min,the fish surfaced and it’s a BIG DOGTOOTH ard 30kgs ……
The fish was abt to be gaffed when the HOOK came out……Wat The Hell!!!!!
Slowly the fish drifted away as if waving good bye to us…….Everyone was shocked at power of the fish!!!!
Night falls and the usual gang came out for their tooth flossing………
As usual no lines are spared and the escolar was still not seen as its servants are busy cutting the trap meant for him…..
As the night getting darker ,the anglers got tired and the soon the Zzz Monster got them ….
One by one retired for the night hoping for more action in morning….
Only I and Vincent stay on for the night ……I was jigging at the side while Vincent was busy with the Edward Scissor Gang……..Once a while I could heard some swearing and cursing at the back…….
While Jigging with Jig Ace 365gms Pink,I tried to avoid the bottom depth for the Barracuto…..Out came Dyran who had a short smoke at the door way…….
Suddenly my rod double bent and my Saltiga Z 4500 went screaming don stop!!!…..This time I am thinking Ho Say liao….!!!!!!!
The fish slowed down and Dryan was there encouraging …..And out of a sudden ,I feel someone cutting my line below…..Shit!!!! My record has escaped with the help of the Barracuto……My drag was set at 10kgs and U can imagine the size of the fish that took my jigs ……….Sigh!!!!!

Day 5
The weather was not good and no sunlight ……..Trolling was not good either….
So again bottom fish and jigging!!!!! Plan were discussed and decided to go to the Brunei Drop Off …….
Off we moved to the Drop Off!!!!!
But that took 8 hours to reach!!!
Upon reaching the drop off, the bottom fishing was simply too good…….
If Tanjung Pinang could produced such result ,I don mind paying more ..!!!!!
Every fish caught was red in colour…..Can U imagine that!!!!
Ruby snapper, Ang Go Li, Red Grouper and Snappers were all caught……
Night falls again and this time everyone was very confident that there will be some big lurking below…….So out came the big hooks !!!!
Vincent caught a big Grouper to record his personal best ……It weigh in at 8kgs……
The fish came up looking like a idiot who juz woke up!!!!
The usual assort fish was still caught during the night…….
The fishing slowed down and all of us decided to retired for the night…….
Up came the anchor and off we goes…………

Day 6
Finally saw land after 4 days in the sea......Damned happy!!!!!
Thinking of having a good warm bath and some drinks later in the night makes me even more happy!!!!
Can U imagine bathing in the rocking seas for 4 days ??
Did I mention abt drinks?? I mean beer!!!!! Ho Shit!!!!
Brunei is a muslim country and it is against their law for drinking…….
I was wondering how non-local survived….!!!!
In the end ,we meet up with Chang and his gang of friends for some coffee……..
I got some present from Chang ….Thanks a lot Chang!!!
The next morning ,We boarded the plane back to Singapore…….I really miss the fishing in Lousia Reef and told myself that I will have to be back to get the Biggies and destroy the Barracuto population……!!!!
Are U guys ON for the next trip there????

Remarks.
Special Thanks to Saimee and Chang for playing the host……U guys Rocks!!!
The catch rate is really not that good as no biggies are landed…….
To us .,the catch is definitely better than Tanjung Pinang……Juz that a little more expensive!!!!
To the locals ,its way below expectation!!!!!
But the company wise ,its simply priceless and fun..!!!!
Lots of laughter and jokes shared ard……..That is wat I call fishing to the MAX!!!!
After so much of crap from me….Pics pls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers
jason

fishing wasn't that great but the company was fun especially when we were fishign and the music came on playing the tune "tell me why i feel so sad...so sad...tell me why i feel so sad..." how ironic when the song came on while we were getting cut off by the barracoutas. jason, you forgotten to add in victor the captain who would shout dogtooth and run around like crazy everytime someone's rod bend.

Cal,
Ha..ha...so you're belial. I think we did pm each other about fishing in Anambas. Small world indeed.

Mike,
The company was great. We learned from each other even though this trip has nothing to brag about.

Jason,
Damned the 30kg Dogtooth.

Cheers!

It was indeed a shame that Louisa did not produce the goods as she usually does.

Your Barracouta hosts were definitely the low side of the trip, I'm pretty sure that if not for their attentive ministrations, you would at least have boated an escolar and few bigger doggies.

The drop off area that Fred's crew targetted on the way back also holds some serious sized MJs, but your parking has to be just right and the bait has to be ultra fresh. That said, my trip last Thursday night was very unusually quiet at night, the next morning was better.... very strange considering that the week before, one of my crews scored big time at that same spot.

Well, hope that your team was not too put off with Brunei waters, they do have some seriously productive times. I will try to find a few more new deep water spots over the next year or perhaps with the help of my crews, we might set up a secret deep water FAD for pelagics.

Best weather is April-May. Tight lines,

Saimee

Thanks Jason for the CP report.

Btw, Cheng(not Chang) well know as 12345 is very helpful and know lots of lobang for fishing tackle.

Well, what can i said, last year i lost some hooks, line and jigs to Baracoutta.. this year is the worst hit... not sure what Baracoutta want to do with all the collection!!

The only suspecting Escolar hook up also burst #$%&...

Brunei, if you want to know some young philipino and indonesian chinese girl... then go there... plenty of them.

Cheers,
Vincent

Tanjung Pinang you can't get some of this fight...especially line cut.. where got baracoutta in TP... that can let you curse and swear....

My previous cathes not as many as this.. but all biggies.. some release.

You can get rod bend and reels scream... in Louisa.. take 3 to fight big dogtooth.. as least feel like samson fishing in Perth...

Jason, the JM rod.. u want to rod builder Ah Meng to build for you on reverse backbone..

Cheers,
Vincent

The catches have size in them.........
In fact ,many of the fish are eaten by us
Espcially the Ruby snappers....and the Coral trout.....
