Rep Power: 0  | Thailand fishing ? Hi ya'll, I'm headed off to Bangkok for a couple of weeks...Wondering if anybody has fished Thailand after the tsunami ? If so, does anyone have any suggestion's as to where to go for a few days...Ain't gonna bring tackle this time, don't have time for the Andaman's...Any suggestion's would be appreciated. If Salt Water is not a game for you, there are always Mekong Catfish and Barramundi pond. Not sure how good bluewater fishing off Phuket and the neighbouring islands is currently but if I had a short time in Bangkok, I'd most definitely head for the freshwater pond Bung Sam Ran for a go at the Mekong catfish. Huge Siamese Carp and Arapaima are also stocked in the pond. Professional guides provide tackle, bait, hotel pick-up etc. Jean-Francois Helias is probably the most well-known internationally: FISHING ADVENTURES THAILAND Ah boy aka "Bad Boy" is also pretty good I hear: fishingboy2005@yahoo.com Alternatively, you could take a taxi to the pond and get any one of the cheaper guides based at the pond entrance. There is tackle for rent at the pond as well. Thanx Mark, you got my interest for the park...Thank you for the pics & the holiday greetings : ) I hope you & yours have a great one as well...Those Mekong catfish are something else.....I'll see how my buddy from Guam feels about this...We are meeting in BKK, he worked the deck for me for quite a few years when I was fishing in Guam...As you know, it's mostly blue water for me...unless I happen to be in the states during the fall salmon & steelhead run.....But this time I'll just be a spectator as I got some minor surgury to be attended to in BKK... I wish I could have given you a better catch report the other day, as the fishermen were my crew only ,trying to practise jigging tech & a low thermocline, maybe that affected the low catch rate ?? As we know the name of this sport is fishing & not catching..he he he Tight lines & thanx all , Happy Holidays |

Have a good trip Aaron and take care  If you manage to fish at Bung Sam Ran, do look out for the tackle shop at the pond (7 Seas Pro Shop)...Mr Jai the owner stocks an impressive range of jigging and popping gear...prices for most items are comparable to the prices you'd get in Singapore. I would suggest that you bring your gear or contact me and I will be glad to join you for a day out and take all of my gear for us to use. I know some good boats with Great Captain and crew. Prices run around 10,000 Thb. but some are a little below and some a little above that. Anyway ANYTIME you want to fish here in Phuket I will be More than happy to help you any way I can.
