| Administrator | Tail Gaff Next month I have a trip up to Madlvies for a week fishing. I was requested to purchase a tail gaff from Singapore. The tail gaff is for a boat like this (please look at the attachment) Anyone can recommend me a place to purchase this tail gaff? Thank you Edy

Well, it all depends on how high the boat is, perhaps a 6-7 foot piece of sturdy aluminium or wooden pole that can fit in your rod tube and a lot of sticky tape, rope and heavy duty plastic tie rods (or is it rod ties, you know, the kind that zips & locks up to secure bunches of electical wiring) to somehow secure the connection to the tailer when you get to your fishing destination. The trick to using a tailer is once it tightens round the tail of the fish, lift the tail out of the water as soon as you are able to to disable the fish. Easier said than done with larger specimens though. The thing is if the tail remains in the water & is fully "functional", you may well get the tailer ripped out of your hands when the fish tries to power away from you. I've attached a picture of the Aftco tailer for you info. | |
