Seabass plugging rods (spin) VS BC outfits for shore luring

Just wondering, why hasn't longer sea bass rods caught on here in Singapore since there are so many of us into shore luring. Most of us are still using bass outfits (BC) and reluctant to give spin outfits a try. Why is this so?

Would love to hear precious inputs from our local hard-core lurers on the following-

1) Whats the pro's of using a typical 6' BC outfit?
2) Whats the cons of using a longer 8-9' Spin outfit in your opinion?

Re: Seabass plugging rods (spin) VS BC outfits for shore luring

Spinning outfits these days are not very heavy. Why not take both types: long rod & short rod; with you?

Both 6 foot and 7-8 foot type will work. It just depends on the individual's taste. For those who can't decide, then take 2 rods.

Some places require a long cast......Classical surf-fishing locations come to mind. Fraser Island, etc.

But Singapore got no classical surf-fishing locations. So, long rod not necessary.

As many of the experienced Lurer's will tell you, the fish will grab the lure right at your feet.
