    The real "Kerisi Bali"

    Hi fellas,

I always believed that the "Kerisi Bali" was the fish in the first picture. However, a Balinese boatman recently told me that the blood red Ruby snapper (2nd picture) was the real "Kerisi Bali". Indeed, have not seen the fish in the first picture much in Bali, perhaps they don't take jigs or perhaps they've been completely overfished?

    MarkR,

I had the same assumptions as you, 'cos that what the crew calls the first fish... As for the ruby snapper, the crew just calls them Rubies....hehehehheehe I guess I have a more Anglophiled crew than I thought.

Maybe we should call the first fish "Kerisi Borneo"...
