| Moderator | Re: Perth Weather???? I wouldnt just rely on that site as it can be in-accurate. Compare it with Bureau - Western Australian Forecasts and you'll get a better idea of the weather. BTW went out today in a 6m walkaround. Got 10 between the 2 of us in 2hrs, 4 got sharked and dropped quite afew... Beautiful day out on the water. Last edited by hon-su : 31-12-2006 at 02:50 PM. |

Were these aftermarket handles for the AXXXXXXE reels? Personally have witnessed an offset after market handle for the Boss reels give way at "the part where it join on to the reel"...handle was made of a softer metal compared to the gear shaft...that could have been the root of the problem. More information please and Catch Report please? It's been almost too long... | |

My Mood: Rep Power: 6 ![]() ![]() | Re: Perth Weather???? Yo Jason, These are my personal observations, opinions will always differ I can't be certain if the AG aftermarket handles are made of stronger material than stock Boss handles...anyway stock Boss handles appear a little short for jigging and a little thin to me even though Accurate has increased the thickness and handle length several times over the years. However it does seem like the material AG uses is stronger than the material used for the aftermarket offset handle the local Accurate agent carries…otherwise, it may well be a design issue…not the first time I've seen problems with this offset handle. Fitting an aftermarket AG handle on a Boss reels involves a change of the original gear shaft as well. This is because the stock gear shaft has "2 straight and 2 curved edges" whereas the AG aftermarket shaft has a square cross section or 4 straight edges. Likewise, the “female part” on the AG aftermarket handle is a square hole, different from the offset handle the local Accurate agent carries. The fit of a square male and female part could be better perhaps? More contact surface and load distribution? Furthermore, it seems like the stock gear shaft does not sit deep in the offset aftermarket handle from the agent...overall I feel that the fit of the AG gear shaft and AG handle is deeper and more secure for jigging but must say that there is less wobble when jigging with an offset handle...strangely AG doesn't seem to manufacture an offset version for the Boss reels Tight lines Last edited by MarkR : 11-01-2007 at 10:40 AM. |

| Super Moderator | Re: Perth Weather???? I'll second that! I have sent several of my friend's reels into the Accurate "workshop" for servicing and most of the time reel malfunction was caused by user's negligence. Guess what? Except for a reel that required a brand new side plate... all other parts like drag/bearings etc were changed at no cost... the guys didn't charge for servicing. Honestly I haven't come across such service anywhere else locally. |
