Mikey - List out your burma banks gear!

Yo Mikey,

Since you are going to Burma Banks before me, could you please share with me what you are bringing there?

As you know I have not fished for awhile and do not want to miss out any fun gears

Thanks,
Edy

Re: Mikey - List out your burma banks gear!

I hope you're not thinking of bringing Madai Jigs to Burma Banks dude... unless you have one the size of a tennis ball!

To be honest I haven't got much "toys" left... will be bringing whatever's left from my last few leylong sessions

1. 12lb spin gear (plugging)- For football size tuna/smaller surface feeders
2. 30lb popping gear- For slightly bigger tuna/casting big minnow type lures and smaller topwater plugs
3. 60lb popping gear- In case Mr GT shows up/big GT type lures
4. 50lb spinning jigging gear- All rounder jigging outfit
5. 80lb overhead jigger gear (double up as bottom fishing outfit)- Deep waters/Groupers + whatever that can't be stopped on 50lb class tackle.

Thats it tentatively I might get lazy and bring a set or two less

Mikey,

Sounds good man ... I enjoy doing top water plugging too!

What size of poppers and jigs are you going to bring?

Regards,
Edy

Bringing a cooler box would seriously increase your baggage weight dude. Sure you wanna do that?

I just came back from another shopping spree with the lads... they're really armed to the teeth for this trip

Mikey (and others),

Do you, even when using trebles on your hooks, allow your jigs to touch bottom before cranking them up, or do you ask the captain how deep the water is, and then start jigging before it touches bottom? Agar-agar.

I got sunko once, and it was super sian.....

Re: Mikey - List out your burma banks gear!

Zeck,

Usually i try not to use treble hook if i were to drop the jig all the way till bottom due to snag issue.

Edy

Re: Mikey - List out your burma banks gear!

Thanks Edy - but what if you prefer to use treble and not assist hooks? Would you let the jig drop to the bottom?

Any idea how Matsutani-san deals with this? I read somewhere that he likes trebles.

Thanks!

Re: Mikey - List out your burma banks gear!

Hi Zeck,

In that case once it touches the bottom reel it quickly? In fact if i were to drop the jig all the way to bottom, i do not attach the assist hook on the jig end ... just the initial part.

Regards,
Edy

Re: Mikey - List out your burma banks gear!

Depending on which area you fish in, you might want to gear up especially for GT. They are swarming the reefs of late, going mad over both poppers and jigs! And they aren't small either!
