    Re: Local Fishing

    Hi ziyang,

Just be aware that popular boatmen are usually fully booked on weekends, be it good or bad tides because most people are unable to fish on weekdays. Even on weekdays when there are excellent tides, the dates will normally be taken too.

In the event that they have no booking, especially on weekends, it usually means the tides are REALLY bad for fishing. It is a fact that regulars get preferential treatment & get the best tides. So if you want to get to fish the good currents with local boatmen, you will have to spend time to cultivate a "relationship" & rapport with them over time. Opinions differ of course.

    Best regards,
    Makaira

    Hi ziyang,

Here's another boatman you can try out. His name is Bakar & the boat is moored at Changi River -- approximately 20-24 footer fibreglass with single outboard. Contact is 97346805. He usually fishes the northern side of Tekong / Ubin. Not too sure what his charges are these days though.

    Best regards,
    Makaira

Errrrmmmm ... it is hard for me to comment on his service as one man's meat is another's poison. One detail I forgot to tell you is that anglers on his charter will have to help him pull the anchor as he is a one man show & he is coming of age. His spots are usually not deep, ranging from 10 meters to perhaps 25 meters at most. So it is not that "siong" anchor pulling wise. All I can say is Bakar is a nice chap & very experience in his own way. You will not see him chiong the same spots as the rest of the changi boats e.g. the so-called chermin alley at the naval base, or drift fish the front side of Tekong. He fishes his own spots on the opposite end facing Johor.

    Hope this helps.

Agreed with u. Sometimes u think u very lucky can booked so and so boatman but maybe that date is just not for fishing, that's why no ppl booked him. Some of them go offshore becos they wanna get fish, some of them just wanna go, no matter it go tide or not, maybe they prefer to rock & roll.........

**Updated** Looking for kaki to go for nite trip(including weekend), just pay for the petrol & off we go.

Is good to go offshore fishing if the fishes bite. If no fish bite means that is not shock and who will ever pay for it to go offshore. Rite? Is also hard to find kakis nowadays. Mayb, can find you to join if you interested.
