Live Baiting

Hello,

I have read a lot about live baiting method for bottom fishing from Rod & Line Magazine during bottom fishing.

The thing puzzled me is how those anglers live baiting a 1 or 2kg size fish during deep sea fishing such as depth 120 meters ++ because the fish is still alive & kicking so when you lower down your bottom rig very high chances that the live bait will entangles your terminal tackle or even your main line because the live bait fish will in panic mode so eventually swim in all direction.

Hope all the buddies here can provide some advice.

Hi,

With the help of a spreader, the live bait will be lowered down slowly. This helps in preventing tangles. The bait itself will naturally follow with the flow of the current.

In Taiwan, they don't use spreader, just hooked a live rainbow runner on the assits hooks with or without jigs.

Cheers
