RE: Introducting Corrosion X or Reel X

I understand that Reel-X and Corrosion X are the same product.

There is also a product called Speed-X that is specifically for bearings on inline skates.

I do however feel that both products are still susceptible to washing out, so reapplication after 2 uses is probably necessary. For coating the inside of your reels, I prefer Cals Grease or Penn Muscle Grease, applied with a small paintbrush.

For bearing oils, I saw a few postings in the US Allcoast Board on a product called Black Market, where you leave the oil on overnight and the freespool gets better and better. I have not been able to get hold of this oil.

Regards,

DFM

Hi,

Quite a few places in Singapore have this product. You can try Anglers Outfitter 62947567 or Deep Sea 63981266. Should be below S$10 per bottle. Call to confirm prices though For easy application, make sure you get the plastic squeeze bottle & not the aerosol spray can.

As far as washing off is concerned, this product supposedly bonds with the metal to prevent corrosion. So theorectically, it will still work its magic even if it is washed off. Great for exposed metal parts like rod guides, metal reel body, bailarm, spool & such. Re-apply a few times over a season for insurance purposes is fine. Re-application for bearings & other moving parts during the course of regular reel maintenance as per normal will suffice IMHO.

Best regards,
Makaira
