If anything, I think it shows that well tied knots beat not so well tied knots no matter what kind of knot it is. Its also worth keeping in mind that observation about bite offs on braid with baracouta. I always wondered why they would whack braid but not mono.... now I have a better idea. I'm experimenting with the Tony Pena version as a faster knot for the hot bite bust offs..... Regards, Saimee

Wonder how the FG would compare... Have not tried out the PR knot but would probably purchase the bobbin soon...as I understand it to be, there is no compression/tightening step with the PR after the knot is formed...quite different from the FG....not sure if this is a good thing or not.... Planning a trip to F6 and F23 in Sep where the kingfisher guys landed that huge GT on popper recently...but my mate in Miri tells me that Shell has begun strictly enforcing the no fishing within 500m rule because of the kingfisher DVD... tight lines mark |

Well dude, I always thought that after they started putting the oil rig fishing ban on in Brunei waters, anybody who broadcasted that they were fishing the rigs in normal weather, was bound to shoot themselves in the foot. Now it seems like the Miri lads are doing the same thing. If you tied up to a rig in nasty weather for safety's sake, then that would be permitted under our law, but if you post on the net that you have been popping and jigging GTs from the lighted areas around the rigs then thats self incriminating. Sadly, as I understand it, the problems with the law and fishing at the rigs came about because of the activities of a greedy and imbecilic few who were diving the legs of the rig to fasten on fish traps, some incidents of fish bombing, netting of the rigs which causes dangers to shell divers from lost nets around the legs (I have run into this problem and its not funny when your Dive Regulator gets stuck in a wayward net at night) etc etc. In the US, fishing the rigs is part of the fishing charter economy in a few states like Texas. Let me know when you do get round to this side of the pond dude..... BTW.... I reckon the PR knot still works dude, I have broken off my 80lb leader on my ranggong instead of the PR knot quite a few times....... pulling till my eyes watered... Y'all fish on dude. Saimee
