Drift Fishing

OK Guys one query!!! Me, Kel, Vern and Patrick are going drift fishing so what sort of rig to use and how long the leader should be?

It's better to avoid long trace line as you might get snag easily. Keep it to the minimun. A running sinker would be a better choice if the current is not so strong.

But wouldn't it also cause a snag as well since your running sinker is above your leader. BTW how long should you leader be then?

Kel - Apollo 13!!! Use Aqua-naut to tie the rig rite :P

Apollo 13= Apollo rig tied with No. 13 Seaguar Fluorocarbon line + 13 droppers + 13 hooks

Hi Les,
For me, apollo will be better. Less sangkot, let the sinker touch bottom and just lift up a bit (maybe one ft). Keep doing slow jigging and try to feel the bottom. If touch , lift up a bit, if never touch for sometime, release until it touches bottom and repeat the cycles.

Hahahaha .... yup! Oh anycase, I will be there with you. Been with the skipper before so no probs. Just make sure your apollo hook don't touch the bottom - tie it a little higher.

We are fishing around southern islands, though have not fished with the boatman so giving him a try lah. Anyway its been a long time since I fished there.

We ought to give the Japanese bait fishing styles a try one of these days. They basically use a berley dispenser as weight and seem to have rather good success on food fish. Must try and get a Japanese friend to give me some tips on this some time.

Yep. I think Irvin brought one of those to Trikora two weeks ago.

Must really look out tho - if snagged, very very expensive hobby (not that it's very cheap now).

Too bad he left it in Tanjung Pinang. Think its a good idea using berley cages as sinker as well.
